2 observations.
- Cross Country on a fall day is a beautiful sport
- I know a lot more about cross country then I do about football, basketball or any of the other sports I usually shoot. I feel those athletes pain and triumph. Not that I ever would have been any better then a solid of middle of the packer in a race like this, but I can understand and empathize with all the work and all the effort they put out on the course. Even the middle of the packers are working pretty hard.
OK, more observations. When Ariana North went by halfway thru the race I was amazed how hard she was breathing, how hard she was working, how much she seemed to be suffering. Not sure I ever had the courage to work that hard thru the middle of a distance race. I don’t think I ever had that much faith the my body wouldn’t collapse, or maybe it was an unwillingness, somewhat logical, to tolerate that much pain for that long. Apparently she didn’t think she’d win a sprint do wanted to get a commanding lead.
